clinical supervision

Engaging in clinical practice and supervision can feel like learning to sew or play an instrument. At first, the basic steps and overall structure seem straightforward enough, though already challenging. As your skills grow, you begin to notice the many techniques that experience makes to look effortless, and which feel daunting while you’re learning and integrating so many new skills at once.

Over time, with mentorship and intentional practice, thousands of small, hard-won skills become second nature, allowing you to create thoughtful, nuanced, and meaningful work you can feel proud of.

Choosing a supervisor is a pivotal and often overwhelming part of that process. I understand the complexity of building a clinical career and navigating the systems that can both support and constrain your growth. My primary aim is to help guide you through the impostor syndrome toward increasing confidence, competence, and independence as a clinical mental health professional.

I enjoy being a part of clinicians’ early career and development. To me, clinical supervision is more than just a requirement; it is a powerful tool for reflection and support, and a space to be challenged and grow. In supervision, I use relational, systemic, and social-justice frameworks. And beyond clinical skills and attention to ethical practice, we’ll explore the nuances of your clinical journey: focusing on nervous-system regulation, intentional use of self and the impact of vicarious trauma and moral injury. Together, we will also navigate the complexities of your positions of privilege, oppression, and cultural awareness, and the challenges of navigating the sometimes dysfunctional institutions that we and our clients work within. The goal is to help you build a sustainable and impactful clinical practice.

I work with Clinical Social Work Associates, Marriage and Family Therapist Associates, and Professional Counseling Associates in the state of Oregon.
